NASCAR Race End With Massive Pileup!! Talladega Delivers Another Vicious Wreck

TALLADEGA, Ala. — If you or I had been involved in a wreck like the one that claimed the cars of Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and more than two dozen other NASCAR drivers on Sunday afternoon, we’d curl up in a fetal position at the thought of going near a car ever again. This was the kind of high-speed, full-throttle, nowhere-to-hide carnage that allows real life to edge its way into your sporting Sunday, forcing you to think, just for a second, that something really bad might just have happened Fortunately for all concerned, the catastrophic wreck on the last lap of the Good Sam 500 destroyed only acres of sheet metal (and the championship hopes of several drivers). The maelstrom that unfolded behind winner Matt Kenseth was terrifying to observe, yes, but ultimately nothing more than one hell of a show. In short, it was the perfect NASCAR wreck. Of course, you’ll forgive the drivers if they’re not quite as thrilled about all this. As they climbed from their cars, in various states of agitation and disbelief, they expressed a common sentiment: This isn’t how racing should be. With his car in neon-green shards just a few feet away, Dale Earnhardt Jr. looked visibly shaken as he sat on the back bumper of his car hauler talking with crew chief Steve Letarte. When he did speak to the media, he left no doubt about his feelings on a track where he’s had more success than any other: “It’s not safe wrecking like that,” he said. “It’s ridiculous, man. It’s …

There is more to it than that, i was just like you till i tried it. If you lose a draft on talladega it can be race over. Its not easy to keep pushing a car that your getting draft off and keeping your engine from over heating when they only way you can talk to the other driver is through 2 middle men. As a sport to watch if your not into it, it will seem boring. But once you have done it, even if its playing a game online you understand how hard it can be to get a win.

Plenty of F1 and touring car drivers have had NASCAR careers but they generally only excel on the road courses. Both sports require high levels of skill and finesse, just different sets. F1 cars have extraordinary downforce and grip so some would argue that anybody could point and turn them around a course, just a matter of being able to get heat into the tires. If you’re a true race fan then you should be appreciating all forms of the sport. Short-sighted comment for sure.

Ok not to say it was Michael Waltrips fault, but at 0:32 it looks like Tony was there and Michael Waltripwas at his left rear bumper getting him lose and turning him inside. I still have to admit though it was Tony’s fault for the wreck.

Oh yeah? F1 takes pure skill does it? How about Grosjean crashing out at t1 in Spa? Yeah thats REAL skills right? No thats bullshit. Try running 3 wide at Daytona in these Gen6s at a mm apart. F1’s current lot are rubbish with the ‘new blood’ bs! Im a f1 fan but to say that it takes pure skill and NASCAR doesnt, is just retardedness.

Then u’re not a true fan. My point: a true fan enjoys everything, and you’re not a true fan if you’re hating on it.

Well judging from Marcose Ambrose’s performances in NASCAR, you Aussies don’t seem any more spectacular than the rest of the racing world.

1. Besides racing in every continent, NASCAR has all of what you just mentioned. 2. There are up to around 80 lead changes in a race, those are passes made that don’t include the other cars back in the pack making passes. So yeah, we do overtake.

Glad to see you can base your arguement completely on assumptions. Let me just proove NASCAR’s dominance. Since there are more cars on the track and less grip in NASCAR, plus the moronic F1 drivers that have tried NASCAR, passing is far more difficult in NASCAR. Also, you have to wait until the right time to pass in any motorsport, so don’t tell me that’s the basis of your arguement. BTW, you could probably find some of NASCAR’s biggest sponsors on F1 cars as well.

NASCAR is almost a completely different sport from the likes of f1. They have different target audiences and have completely different racing. Personally I enjoy all forms of Motorsport but just because you don’t like NASCAR doesn’t mean everyone who does is wrong.
